Terms and Conditions for ShareWhile

1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using ShareWhile ("the App"), you agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions and our Privacy Policy. If you disagree with any part of these terms, you may not use our App.

2. Eligibility

ShareWhile is available to users of all ages
By using the app, you confirm you have appropriate permissions to use location sharing services
Parents and guardians are advised to supervise children's use of the app
Users are responsible for complying with local laws regarding age restrictions

3. User Accounts and Identity

a) Anonymous Users

You can use ShareWhile without registration using an anonymous Device ID
You can set any display name per group
Anonymous users are clearly marked with an indicator next to their name in all groups
If you uninstall the app, your groups and settings will be lost

b) Registered Users

You must provide a valid email address and create a password
Your display name is fixed and comes from your profile – you cannot change it per group
You can optionally add a profile picture
Your groups and settings persist across devices and reinstallation

4. Group Roles and Moderation

a) Roles

Owner: The user who creates the group. Can promote members to Admin. Cannot be removed.
Admin: Can remove regular members (None role). Cannot remove Owner or other Admins.
None: Regular member with no moderation rights.

b) Moderation Actions

Admins can remove members with the "None" role
When removing a member, Admins may choose to delete all messages posted by that member in the group
Deleted messages are permanently erased and cannot be recovered

c) Deleting Your Own Messages

Any user can delete their own messages at any time
Deleted messages are permanently erased

5. Group Privacy Settings

"Only registered users can join": When enabled, only registered users can join the group. Anonymous users cannot join.
Member list: Available in group settings – shows all members and their roles.
Group owners and admins can view and manage members from this list.

6. User Responsibilities

a) Appropriate Use

Use ShareWhile only for lawful purposes
Respect the privacy and consent of others when sharing location
Do not harass, stalk, or intimidate other users
Do not use the App for emergency services or critical situations
Do not impersonate others (if registered, your identity is fixed; if anonymous, you are clearly marked)

b) Content Responsibility

You are solely responsible for all content you post in chat groups
We do not pre-screen or moderate messages proactively
Admins may remove you and your messages if you violate these terms

Important Note About Anonymous Users: Anonymous users can change their display names at any time and are marked with an anonymous indicator. Registered users have fixed identities. Always be cautious when sharing sensitive information with anonymous users.

7. Data Retention and Deletion

Location data: Only your most recent location per group is stored. Deleted when you leave a group or delete your account.
Chat messages: Full history is stored. You can delete your own messages anytime.
Messages deleted by Admin: If an Admin removes you and deletes your messages, they are permanently gone.
Inactive groups: Groups with no activity for more than 1 year are automatically deleted along with all messages.

8. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, ShareWhile shall not be liable for:

Any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages
Misuse of location data or chat content by group members
Offensive or harmful content posted by users
Service interruptions or technical issues
Damages arising from impersonation (anonymous users are clearly marked as such)

9. Service Modifications and Termination

We reserve the right to modify or discontinue the App at any time
We may suspend or terminate your access for violations of these terms
You may delete your account or all your data at any time via App settings

10. Changes to Terms

We reserve the right to modify these terms at any time. We will notify users of significant changes through the App. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance of the modified terms.
